Baguio City, Philippines — February 28, 2026

The launching of EDAFUAN Magazine during BLOOMS & LOOMS: Habing Katutubo Panagbenga Edition 2026 placed renewed spotlight on World Champion Islay Erika Bomogao, the publication’s official cover personality whose inspiring journey continues to embody Indigenous excellence and Cordilleran pride.

Held at the Diamond Hall of Hotel Supreme, the magazine launch formed Part II of the evening’s program, hosted by Alfonso Emmanuel, gathering designers, Indigenous weavers, cultural performers, creatives, media partners, and members of the Habing Katutubo Collective Inc.

A Continuing Celebration of a Cover Personality

While Bomogao had already been formally unveiled as EDAFUAN Magazine’s cover personality during Habing Katutubo 6 on November 28, 2025, the Panagbenga Edition marked the official public launching of the magazine itself, allowing guests to witness the realization of the publication in its completed form.

Her recognition during BLOOMS & LOOMS therefore served as a celebration of the finished work — honoring both the athlete and the collective journey documented within its pages.

Program Highlights of the Magazine Launch

The segment formally opened with a Doxology led by MC Labasen, setting a reflective tone for the gathering.

Welcome Remarks were delivered by Maila Alog, Founder of Habing Katutubo Collective Inc., Editor-in-Chief of EDAFUAN Magazine, and Head Designer of M.A. Woven Designs. She emphasized that the publication was created as a cultural archive documenting years of advocacy, collaboration, and Indigenous co-creation.

An intermission performance by Baguio J’Krayonz followed, energizing attendees before the highlight message from Bomogao herself.

A Champion Grounded in Heritage

Taking the stage, Islay Erika Bomogao addressed guests as both global athlete and proud Igorot woman.

A Muay Thai World Champion, World No. 1 IFMA 45kg Elite fighter, two-time SEA Games Gold Medalist, professional ONE Championship athlete, and licensed educator, Bomogao shared reflections on discipline, perseverance, and remaining grounded in one’s roots despite international success.

Her message resonated strongly among attendees — particularly Indigenous youth, designers, and weaving communities present — reinforcing that cultural identity remains a source of strength rather than limitation.

EDAFUAN: Documenting Origin

EDAFUAN, an Ibaloy term meaning “pinanggalingan” or origin, documents the stories behind Habing Katutubo’s growing movement.

The launching edition was made possible through the sponsorship of MBE Publishing and Photography and M.A. Woven Designs, with editorial content developed by Habing Katutubo Collective Inc.

Following Bomogao’s message, guests participated in a Photo Opportunity and Magazine Signing Session, marking the official circulation of the publication to partners, designers, community members, and invited attendees.

Representation Beyond the Pages

More than a ceremonial program, the magazine launch affirmed Habing Katutubo’s continuing mission — placing Indigenous narratives, achievements, and lived experiences at the forefront of contemporary cultural discourse.

By featuring Islay Erika Bomogao on its launching edition cover, EDAFUAN Magazine underscores a powerful message:

Excellence grows from origin. Identity travels with achievement. And Indigenous stories deserve enduring space in history.
